The fuel price for the two grades will increase with a
whopping 67 cents per liter from Wednesday.
The Department of Energy says the price of diesel will go up
by 44 cents a liter, the price of Illuminating Paraffin will increase by
forty-nine cents a liter.
The last fuel increase was last month.
The Department's senior manager for fuel pricing Robert Maake
explains the reasons for the fuel price increase.
“The main reason for the increases is the weakening of the rand
against the dollar, during the period under review. The higher prices of
petroleum products in the international market. Lastly, the Minister also increased
the retail margin of 6 cents a liter, which was to cater for the salary
increases of people who are working at the service stations.”
