Slumber is a significant part of your skincare ritual (they
do not call it beauty sleep just for nothing), but there can be penalty to your
snooze habits, like sleeping on your front.
While it is snug & comforting to sleep with your face
planted in your pillow, it can also cause breakouts & in some cases, Acne
mechanica - a type of acne caused by pressure & rubbing.
According to the U.K. Sleep Assessment & Advisory
Service, only 8 percent of people sleep on their backs, which means the rest
are either sleeping on in fetal position on their sides or on their fronts.
Team this with the bacteria found on your pillow case (after
a week, it contains 17,442 more bacteria than that found on a toilet seat) &
you have a recipe for an outbreak of spots.
Sleeping on your stomach or on your side can likewise cause
fluid to pool, which promotes wrinkles & puffiness.
So while catching your zz’s face down might be the best
sleeping position for snorers, it is less than ideal for getting the glowing
skin you dream of.
Teach yourself to sleep on your back by making sure you have
a mattress that supports your body weight sufficiently & position pillows
around yourself to stop you from rolling on your side or front.
It can take a while to get used to it, but if you are
committed, you will be back sleeping in no time!
