Envoys have made travel ban threats against politicians who sow anarchy or hamper preparations for the Oct. 26 repeat elections.
According to the sources, the envoys, among them United States'
Robert Godec & British Deputy High Commissioner Susie Kitchens, have been resounding
that failure to hold the repeat polls as planned could throw the country into a
constitutional crisis.
Jubilee has, on the other hand, proposed a raft of
amendments to the electoral laws in a controversial bill that seeks to lessen
the powers of IEBC chairman and also entrench the use of the manual vote
transmission system, among other recommendations.
Nasa has called for demonstrations against the poll agency
today in Nairobi & at county levels to push through the changes they want embarked
on at the IEBC before the polls.
Senate Leader of Majority Kipchumba Murkomen, & who was
a member of Jubilee party's delegation team that held talks with the IEBC &
Nasa, yesterday said that part of the concerns raised by the envoys was the
deadlocks facing the awaited elections.
The European Union, had in its detailed report on the conduct
of the Aug. polls, made a raft of recommendations to support accountability
& transparency of the repeat polls & called for the investigation &
possible prosecution of IEBC officials involved in electoral malpractices.
