According to unnamed sources, the fight for distribution
rights to the James
Bond films just got 2 new
contenders: Apple & Amazon.
Let us get one thing straight: with over $260 billion in
cash on hand, Apple has the money to buy the James Bond
distribution rights.
Not only would winning the distribution rights to the Bond
films give Apple a huge footing in a very profitable & iconic movie
franchise, but it’d potentially give them a new way to market Apple products &
service.
Just picture the scene where James Bond
jumps out of a plane & checks the altitude on his Apple Watch as he flies
to the ground.
Its huge customer base of Prime subscribers would be a
captive audience for James
Bond content, even a series
version that invites folks to binge watch like Man in the High Castle only with
Bond villains instead of Nazis, if
licensing rights are as well on the table.
While imagining what Apple & Amazon might do with James Bond
is a fun thought exercise, for now, it is just that.
Just picture the weird future where James Bond
wears an Apple Watch & Beats headphones.
