The Northern Cape education department said 3 teachers were
suspended on Friday for purportedly having "Sexual relationships"
with students at a high school in Kuruman,.
On Thursday, Van der Merwe said
sixteen students had fallen pregnant at the school over a period of 3 years.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Olebogeng Tawana
revealed that no case has been lodged against the 3 teachers.
In March, Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga said 8,700
primary & high school students fell pregnant in 2016, with 157 of them in
the Northern Cape.
