Four men have died in a single car crash on Phoenix Highway
near the Trade Centre intersection in Phoenix, Durban on Saturday night,
paramedics said.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the
sight by passing motorists reporting the incident shortly before 9pm, Reaction
Unit South Africa said in a statement on its Facebook page.
Upon arrival paramedics established that the 4 Indian male
occupants of the car had sustained life threatening injuries & died on the
spot.
It was said that the gold Toyota Corolla was travelling out
of Phoenix when the driver lost control & crashed into a concrete barrier
in the centre of the road. The car was widely damaged & traced to a resident
of Millbury Place in Phoenix.
Two of the dead bodies have been identified as brothers.
Shortly after hearing of the incident the father of the brothers had to be
rushed to hospital after he was suspected of suffering a heart attack.
Traffic on Phoenix Highway was diverted to allow emergency
services to extract the bodies of the men from the car, the statement said.
