Girls in some schools in England are being forced to wear
hijabs, according to National Secular Society research published in the Sunday
Times today.
The NSS examined uniform policies on the websites of
registered Islamic schools in England & found that girls potentially as
young as 4 are instructed to wear the hijab as part of the official uniform
policy.
The latest revelations come 3 weeks after it emerged that
girls as young as 5 are wearing the hijab at school, as thousands of
non-Islamic schools include it into their uniform codes.
We write with concerns that British school kids are being
forced to wear the hijab & other items of religious clothing whilst at
school.
The wearing of the hijab appears to be compulsory in 8 of
the 23 publicly funded Islamic schools that accept girls - including in 3
primary schools.
