Jose Mourinho has told his fringe players they’ll be crucially ‘important’ over the course of the season as Manchester United battle for trophies on all fronts.

The Red Devils host Burton Albion in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night & Mourinho will use the competition as a means to handing unimportant players valuable game-time.

Mourinho has confirmed that David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Nemanja Matic & Eric Bailly will all be rested & the Portuguese is expected to bring in a number of new faces at Old Trafford.

‘We have some fantastic players who haven’t played at all this season, & others who haven’t yet been selected to start a game because the team is playing so well,’ United’s manager told the official matchday programme.

 ‘That’s life in big clubs, where the squad is always high quality, but they will all be given their chance to show what they can do.

‘They are all important players & their time will arrive.
